Loss of NASCAR programing on television, tape delayed races
NASCAR programing changes, making it harder to get the news and topics the avid fan watches. Why is it since FOX sports 1 took over SPEED, the avid fans have lost shows like NASCAR Victory lane for post race interviews along with NASCAR Race-day for pre race news and interviews. Fox also ran a tape delayed showing of last weeks Nationwide race in some areas of the country. Tape delay are you kidding me, I want to watch the race live. I am a huge fan of NASCAR, so is my wife. We always loved watching all of the pre and post race shows and the daily programming like Race Hub. Fox has gotten rid of a lot of the shows we watch and moved Race Hub from prime-time and shortened it to half an hour. When the news broke about Fox changing SPEED NASCAR assured fans that it would be great for the sport and that we would have better and more programs. Instead we have lost almost all coverage and are having to search just to find out when and who is airing the race. Most of the NASCAR programs have moved to Fox sports 2, and that is a large upgrade on cable and dish just to get it. I already pay $200 a month and the only reason I did that was so I could get SPEED channel and watch all the NASCAR shows. NASCAR if you truly listen to your fans don't let us loose the progr4ams that cover our sport, make sure we see all of the races live and do not let the networks blackout races. I have read on the forum that Bristol was actually blacked out in some parts of the country. NASCAR said that they are trying to grow the sport but everything I have seen in the last month has hurt the sport. We need good programs for daily news, pre race and post race coverage and live airings of all the races. Please let NASCAR know if you are not happy with the changes that have been made we need our sport to grow not be shoved to the back burner.
My husband and I agree 100%. Fox Sports 1 sucks. We want Speed channel back.
I had to by a phone to keep up on stats will not want to weed nascar out of the rest of the crap thay have on fox sports 1. what nascar they cover is covered vary vary bad
I am not sure how much good it will do, but I did sign the petition. Last week, I also emailed Fox Sports to let them know of my displeasure (no response).
I would dearly like to see all races back on broadcast TV. We don't all have cable.
Each week that passes since the transition from Speed Channel to Fox Sports 1 brings less coverage for the NASCAR pre and post show broadcasts. This weekend in San Diego there is only 1 show on Fox Sports 1 and it will be a taped broadcast at 1:30 AM! The balance of the programming has been shifted to Fox Sports 2, which is only available for an additional monthly fee over and above what we already pay to get Fox Sports 1. NASCAR, is this really what you think your loyal fans deserve? So much for the seamless transition that you promised.
I agree 100% with the comments. Every week less and less of Nascar coverage. Are you trying to drive fans away, because since you went to Fox sports 1 it has not been acceptable.
They are making it so unaffordable for individuals to attend the race and now unable to watch it.
No FS in 2 major hotel chains I used for company travel this week. These were $100/night hotels. If they can't afford FS maybe some average fans can't either.
It would be awesome if NASCAR created its own channel. ESPN simply doesn't care about NASCAR, and Fox Sports wants to be like ESPN. I love football, it's fun to watch and I go to a lot of football games every year. But darn it I love my racing too!!!
On ESPN they talk all day about Manziel, the New York & LA teams, and then wear themselves out over a bad call on one play. Then when they're supposed to cover NASCAR they pretty much say: "Oh yeah and there was a race today... So and so won and so and so is leading points. And back to discussing the terrible call at first base during last night's Yankees game!"
A channel dedicated for NASCAR is a whole lot better than hearing some guy who doesn't give a flying flip about NASCAR or any other kind of racing. Also there would be time for the other, smaller race teams to receive some well-deserved attention.
I totally agree with you.
Another Nascar event, The Banquet, that the majority of us won't be able to watch tonight because Fox has decided to air it on Fox2 Sports. C'mon Nascar, help us out here. Don't just sit back and expect us to beg our cable companies to add Fox2, and then watch our cable bill go up again. No thank you.........
Here's a link from the homepage...Starts at 9:00 pm (ET) hope this helps.
I’m finished with NASCAR. I agree with the other posts, the loss of TV coverage has ended my 20 plus years following this sport.
I've attended on average 6 races a year for more than 2 decades, spending thousands a year to do so. For the other 30 weeks a year of the season I’d watch all of the TV coverage both weeknights and weekend.
I think what surprises me the most is that during a time when the race attendance at the races I attend appears to be little more than 50% having very little TV coverage seems to be absolutely the last thing the sport needs.
From a business and fan base standpoint this is no time to lose nearly all of your TV coverage. Just the opposite seams necessary, more TV coverage is needed to bring new fans into the sport.
With all of the TV coverage that I can no longer watch, weekly shows, practice sessions, qualifying etc. the final straw for me was not being able to watch the season ending awards ceremony.
How can anyone support a sport in which they can’t even watch the awards ceremony?
It’s a sad situation but I've turned in my tickets for all 6 races this upcoming year and will more on without NASCAR.
There are plenty of channels on mid level cable/satellite airing reruns all day long. NASCAR can't buy airtime from TNT, USA, or Velocity for Truck and Nationwide racing? I preferred TNT last year (by far) to Fox/ESPN. It seemed TNT was more committed to racing and race fans. ESPN and Fox were delivering another prepackaged sports program. NASCAR's push to move programming to top tier packages will only push away fans.
